4050 is a production Metrocar built by Metro-Cammell at Washwood Heath, Birmingham.
4050 and 4086 were part of a trial where it had the doors painted fuly yellow, Door window surrounds and roof line painted red, yellow right angle triangle near the front removed and a metro M logo on the side front middle and articulation section pannes but it would only last a few weeks the only things that would survive from this trial were the middle pannel logos and yellow doors.
4050 along with 4024 were the last Metrocars to ever run in regularly scheduled passenger service however the brakes on both 4050 and 4024 started to fail after Gateshead on the final leg of the tour from South Shields to Airport and going back to Regent Centre to terminate due to how many people were on both units but the units made it to Regent Centre unscathed.
