4072 was a production Metrocar built by Metro-Cammell at Washwood Heath, Birmingham.

Oddly 4072 had its DDA compliance updated by having its doors repainted from blue with the yellow Metro M triangle to fully yellow, new door buttons and door window surrounds installed before it had LED displays installed instead of all the slight modification being done at the same time.

4072 was one of the first units to be sent away for refurbishment.
