4086 was a production Metrocar built by Metro-Cammell at Washwood Heath, Birmingham.
4086 and 4050 were part of a trial where it had the doors painted fuly yellow, Door window surrounds and roof line painted red, yellow right angle triangle near the front removed and a metro M logo on the side front middle and articulation section pannes but it would only last a few weeks the only things that would survive from this trial were the middle pannel logos and yellow doors.
4086 and 4052 were involved in an incident on the 8th of January 2013 where an arc flash happened in the electrical equipment of 4052 just outisde of South Gosforth Depot while the unit's were on their way to Longbenton Station due to the overhead wire with the acring causing the electronics to catch fire and fill the unit with smoke and passengers evacuated themselves by using the emergency door release handle while the driver was trying to contact the signaller back at South Gosforth Station. Thankfully none of the 45 passengers on 4052 were injured by the fire or smoke or killed by any passing trains. 4052's burnt up electrical equipment was replaced and both units went back into service only over a month later.
