The Manors ECS (Empty Coaching Stock) Curve refers to a stretch of track that links Manors station to West Jesmond station, allowing for services to quickly make their way back to Gosforth Depot without having to return around the Coast. Some morning and evening services use the Manors ECS curve to start or end service. Approximately 2-3 trains use this curve daily to start/end their service.

It’s an incredibly steep curve and requires trains to travel slow around it. According to a driver it is one of the steepest curves of track in Britain.

It is rarely used for passenger service however can be used in the event of disruption in the city centre section of the Tyne and Wear Metro.
