Summary

Description A visit to the Tyne and Wear Metro to see the original Metrocar 2-car sets built from 1978 onwards for when the system opened up in 1980. The 2-car sets run around in pairs. Seen here at Whitley Bay on 11 February 2025 are set numbers 4081 and 4079 working the 12:10 St James to South Shields via the coastal loop in an anti-clockwise direction. These sets are due for withdrawal being replaced by Stadler 5-car sets.
