555002 is a Class 555 unit built by Stadler in St Margrethen, Switzerland.
Karen/002 was involved in an incident caused by a technical problem with the door booking/door pre-select feature on the 21st of April 2025 where the unit opened all of its doors on both the platform and track side at Simonside when the driver attempted to unlock the doors. This was caused by a bug in the door booking feature which affected all Class 555's and thus had to be disabled on all units with the feature still being disabled as of August 2026 and is very unlikely to be fixed due to the amount of passengers that didn't know that feature existed.
As of late August 2026 Karen/002 still has the old class 555 announcements that don't mention the National Rail station at Northumberland Park, announces Central Station as "Central" and in a slightly clunky manner, has the older announcements for West Jesmond that sound different and has the more clunky sounding announcements for Benton.
