GCS Johnson

GCS Johnson Limited was a heavy haulage contractor based in Richmond, North Yorkshire, and founded in 1969.[1] They provided road transport for all 72 metrocars disposed between and including 3 October 2023 (4002) and 14 April 2026 (4061). On 17 April 2026, they reportedly entered voluntary administration.[2]
Incidents
[edit | edit source]On 17 August 2018,[3] Anthony Clark, one of GCS Johnson's employees, was helping colleagues move a large piece of machinery from one lorry to another when it fell from the bed of the trailer, killing him.[4] On 3 May 2023, the company pleaded guilty to breaching Section 2(1) of the Health & Safety at Work etc Act 1974, and was fined £140,000 and ordered to pay £18,355.07 in costs to the Health and Safety Executive.[5]
