4012 was a production Metrocar built by Metro-Cammell at Washwood Heath, Birmingham.

4012 was one of the first units to have it doors repainted fully yellow to be complient DDA and also recive new door buttons, door window surrounds and LED displays and due to this it would keep the triangles with the Metro M in the middle and only have the pannles between the windscreens painted black but this was only kept a few years with the M triangles being removed and the windscreen surround being repainted fully black.
