4080 was a production Metrocar built by Metro-Cammell at Washwood Heath, Birmingham.
Oddly 4080 had its DDA compliance updated by having its doors repainted fully red, new door buttons and door window surrounds installed before it had LED displays installed instead of all the slight modification being done at the same time.
4080 was used as a test to see what style of seat Moquete to use on the second refurbishment being a grey chequered design similar to but not the same as the moquette they chose that was tested on a priority seat, a light grey moquette with blue squares that were scattered spaciously in the moquette that was testes on a bench seat by the doors and a priority seat and the pic-n-mix style of moquette that was used by the London Underground on the 73,95 and 96 stocks which was on a bench seat by the doors. 4080 was also used to test the light and dark coloured flooring that was used during the refurbishment on 2 of the access panels to get to the motors above the front bogie.
