Sunderland

Sunderland is an underground station on the Durham Coast Line. It is the only station where Metro and non-Metro National Rail Services routinely call at the same platforms. The platform is a single island platform with the platform faces split into two separate platforms, 1 & 2, 3 & 4, respectively. Platforms 1 & 4 are usually used by Northern services, while platforms 2 & 3 are used by Metro services on the Green Line. Longer trains operated by Grand Central and formerly LNER use the full length of the platforms.
