Gosforth Triangle
The Gosforth Triangle is a railway triangle connecting Regent Centre, Longbenton, and South Gosforth stations. It encloses Gosforth Depot at the north, and Gosforth Industrial Estate (which contains Nexus Rail Headquarters) at the south. It is made up of five tracks (two dual, one single): two forming part of the Green Line between South Gosforth and Regent Centre, two forming part of the Yellow Line between South Gosforth and Longbenton, and the last being the Gosforth Depot avoiding line.
Junctions
[edit | edit source]Each corner of the triangle has a junction: Gosforth West Junction (connecting Regent Centre, the west end of Gosforth Depot, and the avoiding line), Gosforth East Junction (connecting Longbenton, the east end of Gosforth Depot, and the avoiding line), and Gosforth South Junction (where the Green Line and Yellow Line merge and diverge). A fourth junction, Gosforth Middle Junction, is located between Gosforth West Junction and Gosforth South Junction, and connects South Gosforth and the west neck.
