4026 was a production Metrocar built by Metro-Cammell at Washwood Heath, Birmingham.

Oddly when 4026 had LED displays and new door buttons installed before its doors repainted from red with the yellow Metro M triangle to fully yellow to be complient DDA at the time and door window surrounds installed instead of all the slight modification being done at the same time also this unit still had the Braathens logos on the roof after its refurbishment at Gosforth TMD and the outine of the Braathens logo was still faintly visible after it's Doncaster refurbishment despite Braathens merging with Scandinavian Airlines in 2004 to become SAS Braathens.

4026 was named George Stephenson with a plaque on each side of the A car but it lost its name when it was being sent off for it's refurbishment at Doncaster.
