4057 was a production Metrocar built by Metro-Cammell at Washwood Heath, Birmingham.
Oddly 4057 had its DDA compliance updated by having its doors repainted from red with the yellow Metro M triangle to fully yellow and new door buttons installed before it had door window surrounds and LED displays installed instead of all the slight modification being done at the same time.
4057 and 4085 were the last unit's to depart the old South Shields Station before it was closed and replaced with South Shields Interchange.
