4083 was a production Metrocar built by Metro-Cammell at Washwood Heath, Birmingham.

On the 22nd of March 1983 4083 crashed into an out of service bus being Leyland Atlantean number 120 EJR120W at the Brunton Lane Level Crossing (where Kingston Park is today but this was before the station was planned) with the accident being caused by the ignorance of 120's driver with him later being changed for the dangerous act. In January 2009 4083 and 4084 were involved in a power fault where 4084 lost power to the interior light and the displays with all the passengers being forced to ride on 4083 and 4084 being shut to passengers.
