4049 was a production Metrocar built by Metro-Cammell at Washwood Heath, Birmingham.
Oddly 4049 had LED displays and new door buttons installed before its doors repainted from Grey to fully yellow to be DDA compliant at the time and door window surrounds installed instead of all the slight modification being done at the same time. 4049 was one of the very few units to never carry any of the RGB liveries.
